Calcium chloride enables road authorities to stretch deicer supplies while maintaining ice-free pavement more efficiently, effectively, and economically. Calcium chloride may be used in two ways: pre-wetting and anti-icing.
- Pre-wetting solid sodium chloride (rock salt) with liquid calcium chloride reduces bounce and scatter loss by up to 30%.1
- Anti-icing with liquid calcium chloride can reduce deicing material use by up to 75%.2
Reducing the amount of deicer used minimizes the impact of winter maintenance programs on infrastructure and the environment.
